Manchester City defeated top-four rivals Newcastle 4-0

Egypt striker Omar Marmoush scored his first City goal at the Etihad Stadium after joining from Eintracht Frankfurt in the January transfer window. In the 19th minute, Marmoush ran onto Ederson's long ball and skillfully lobbed Newcastle goalie Martin Dubravka to break a four-game goalless streak. Only five minutes later, Marmoush scored once again with a strong strike that blasted past Dubravka and deflected off Kieran Trippier. In the 33rd minute, the 26-year-old finished his 14-minute hat-trick, but he wasn't done yet.

James McAtee's volley in the 84th minute gave City a much-needed boost following their 3-2 loss to Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League play-off round on Tuesday. Pep Guardiola's team, now fourth in the Premier League, must win the second leg in Madrid on Wednesday to avoid being eliminated from Europe.
