Manchester City extend their winning streak to eight with Newcastle rout

Pep Guardiola’s side keeps their title run on the track with a 4-0 rout of Newcastle United at St James' Park on Sunday. The defending champions celebrated their eighth Premier League win in a row as they ruthlessly annihilated the Magpies. City went up by two-goal in the first half itself with goals by Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo. Later Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling completed the four-goal thriller as Citizens took advantage of a substandard defense by Newcastle.

Magpies have won just one match from their last 18 league matches and sit second to bottom on the table level on points with Norwich City. Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka conceded easy goals while Ciaran Clark failed to defend while Cancelo set up Dias who fired a goal into an unguarded net. City on the other hand maintains a three-point at the top of the table over second-placed Liverpool.
