As reported by James Ducker in the Telegraph, Manchester United have ‘agreed personal terms’ with Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite. Manchester United hopes to finalize the transfer as quickly as possible since the 21-year-old, who made his senior England debut against Bosnia & Herzegovina earlier this month, was left out of Gareth Southgate's 26-man team for the Euros. Branthwaite shined for the Toffees last season, making 35 Premier League appearances. Everton values him at £70 million. However, the Blues may face pressure to sell before June 30 in order to avoid receiving another point deduction for breaking the Profitability and Sustainability rules.
According to other reports on Friday, Man Utd has now made an initial offer of £35 million up front with an additional £8 million in add-ons, bringing the total value of the transaction to a maximum of £43 million. Everton has rejected the offer, but United is anticipated to come back shortly with a stronger one.
