Manchester United have already spent £36million to sign Joshua Zirkzee

Manchester United's pursuit of Ivan Toney, valued at £40 million, could significantly alter their attacking strategy. With Toney in the final year of his contract at Brentford, the Red Devils are keen to add him to their squad despite their recent acquisition of Joshua Zirkzee. The need for another striker has intensified following Rasmus Hojlund's injury, which leaves Zirkzee as the only senior forward for now. Toney's arrival would offer Erik ten Hag a wealth of tactical flexibility.

In a potential dream front three, Ten Hag could deploy Toney as the central striker with flanking support from dynamic wingers like Marcus Rashford and Antony. Alternatively, Toney could form a potent partnership with Hojlund, allowing both to exploit their strengths in tandem. This setup would provide United with enhanced attacking options and depth, crucial for navigating the demands of a competitive Premier League season.
