After a 1-0 victory over Juventus on Sunday, Gianluca Mancini gave Roma a place in the Serie A Champions League. Six minutes after halftime of a close game in Rome, Italy defender Mancini unleashed a brilliantly placed shot that sent Roma up to fourth with his first goal of the year.
Juve, who are currently in ninth position, played the final minutes with a man down after substitute Moise Kean punched Mancini to the ground just 40 seconds after coming on as a late replacement. This win put Jose Mourinho's squad 12 points ahead of Juve. Mourinho later shared "We won because the players gave everything... it was the players' attitude which won the match tonight.” Due to AC Milan's loss at Fiorentina on Saturday night, Roma has surpassed the champions on goal differential and is now three points behind Inter.
