Marc Bernal will be out for an extended period of time.

Giants of La Liga Barcelona were dealt a severe blow on the personnel front late on Tuesday. This is in the midst of rumors that rookie Marc Bernal will be out for an extended period of time. For his part, Bernal had to leave early from Barcelona's La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano earlier in the evening. A regrettable contact with Rayo's Isi Palazón during the last seconds of the game was partially to blame.

The 17-year-old was assisted by the visiting team's medical personnel off the Vallecas field. He was unable to bear any weight on his left leg as he walked through the tunnel after the game. And it appears that Barcelona's worst first have finally been verified in the aftermath of the game. Bernal has reportedly torn the cruciate ligaments in his left knee, according to sources close to the dressing room, according to a report from Diario Sport's Blaugrana insider Toni Juanmartí.
