Marcos Alonso to be sidelined for 2 months after undergoing surgery

The player successfully underwent surgery for lumbar problems and, although Barcelona are not giving any time of absence, according to some reports, it is expected to be around 2 months.

Barcelona left-back Marcos Alonso underwent a successful surgery on his lower back problems, Barcelona announced on Wednesday, but did not specify the expected recovery time.

The Catalan club announced on 10th December that the Spanish defender was suffering from lower back pain and it was not until Sunday, 31st December, that they announced the need to undergo surgery.

The operation was carried out by Dr Amelie Leglise, the same doctor who operated on Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and was supervised by Barcelona's medical staff at the Sports Clinic Bordeaux Merignac in France.

Although the club have not given an estimated time out, journalist Alfredo Martinez believes he could spend around two months on the sidelines.
