Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe scored twice to help the Ligue 1 leaders beat Metz 3-1 at the Parc des Princes, allowing them to keep their five-point lead at the top of the league. The first half was unremarkable and lacked quality chances for either side, however, the Parisians averted surrendering an own goal when defender Danilo Pereira's effort rebounded off the post. Vitinha scored with his first touch to put the hosts ahead early in the second half, before Mbappe doubled the advantage on the hour mark with a magnificent shot.
Metz captain Matthieu Udol equalized with a spectacular header off the inside of the post, before Mbappe made it 3-1 by capitalizing on an error by the visitors' defense. PSG will play Lens in Ligue 1 on January 14 next.
