Arsenal are expected to strengthen their midfield in January following Thomas Partey's injury, which is expected to keep him out until at least the beginning of next year after surgery. The Gunners have been linked with Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, but they will have a tough time signing the Brazilian, as Villa are not willing to sell and Luiz signed a new deal last year that ties him to the club until the end of the 2026 season. It has been reported by Sport that Arteta has Neves on his personal wish list and has reached out to the club's board to try and sign the Portugal international in January.
The report also says that Newcastle United are interested in Neves. The 26-year-old joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017 for an initial £15.8 million and has since spent six seasons at the club, before leaving in the summer for the Saudi Pro League.
