Inter secured a 2-2 tie against Monza on Saturday, denying themselves a fourth consecutive Serie A victory. In the 10th minute, Matteo Darmian scored from Alessandro Bastoni's pass to give the visiting team the lead. However, the advantage was just temporary as Patrick Ciurria expertly equalized a minute later.
It looked as though Inter would win as Lautaro Martinez put his team back ahead in the 22nd minute by capitalizing on Pablo Mari's mistake. But fourth-placed Inter was denied all three points when substitute Caldirola snatched a late equalizer, setting off frenzied host celebrations.
With 34 points, Inter is in fourth position, two points behind third-placed AC Milan. Monza is in fourteenth place with 18 points. If Inter defeats Roma in Sunday's late game, they will reclaim the second place.
