Moses Simon, a winger for the Super Eagles, gave Paris FC their first goal, but it was unable to stop the recently promoted team from losing 5-2 to Marseille at the Stade Vélodrome. Simon's goal in the 58th minute tied the score for the visitors at 2-2. Simon joined Paris FC in the summer following a stellar stint at Nantes.
The Nigerian international quietly scored his first goal for the team after Ilan Kebbal, who had previously cut the deficit in half, assisted him. Mason Greenwood's penalty kick and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's calm finish gave Marseille a two-goal lead in the first half. But when Simon replaced Jean-Philippe Krasso in the 64th minute, the momentum swiftly changed. Les Olympiens took advantage of the shift, and Aubameyang took the lead again before Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Robinio Vaz sealed the win in the closing minutes.
