Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann has spoken out in defence of Florian Wirtz after the player’s underwhelming start to life at Liverpool. The 22-year-old joined the Premier League club earlier this season but has yet to establish consistent form under his new management.
Speaking to reporters, Nagelsmann admitted Wirtz had struggled to make an impact so far. “I watched the game last night, it’s hard for Flo to make such an impact when the coach does not know how to utilise him,” the Germany boss said.
Nagelsmann also pointed to Liverpool’s current inconsistency as a contributing factor, noting: “The whole club is not as stable this year.” He argued that Wirtz’s creative work deserves more support from his teammates.
“Liverpool could also help him by scoring some of the chances he creates,” he added. Despite his comments, Nagelsmann expressed confidence that Wirtz will adapt and thrive in the Premier League.
