According to a startling report from Spain, Antonio Conte's Napoli is reportedly getting closer to signing Kobbie Mainoo, a midfielder for Manchester United. Due to his limited role under Ruben Amorim, Mainoo's future was the focus of significant speculation in the last days of the summer transfer window. Amorim doesn't see Mainoo as a sure starter, as evidenced by the fact that he hasn't started a Premier League match this season. In the Premier League, the player has only played 118 minutes.
Amorim stated earlier in the season that Mainoo is competing with Bruno Fernandes for a starting position. Mainoo requested to leave United on loan prior to the window closing, but the club turned him down. Several clubs were interested in the England international, but Manchester United insisted they wouldn’t sell. However, with Mainoo seeking regular minutes before the 2026 World Cup, a January move remains possible. According to Fichajes, Napoli are now “very close” to signing the 20-year-old.
