Newcastle United could sell Kieran Trippier with a January move abroad on the cards, three years after he first joined the club. Signed from Atletico Madrid in January 2022, Trippier has 18 months left on his lucrative £200,000-per-week contract.
According to The Sun, the club hopes to recover approximately £7.5m - half the sum they originally paid for him - should they finalise a transfer. The Magpies are striving to comply with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and offloading Trippier will be regarded as a step in that direction.
A return to continental football appears to be on the cards for Trippier, who enjoyed success with Atletico Madrid, including a La Liga title win, before moving to Newcastle. The defender is reportedly open to exploring opportunities in Spain, Italy, or Turkey, with clubs from these leagues expressing interest in acquiring his services.
