Nico Williams, a winger for Spain, has agreed to a new 10-year deal with Athletic Bilbao. The German team Bayern Munich was also said to be interested in the 22-year-old, who had been strongly connected to Barcelona. He has now extended his contract with Bilbao until June 30, 2035, even though his original agreement was set to expire in 2027. Williams' release clause is reportedly worth €62 million (£53 million).
After rising through the ranks at Bilbao, where his older brother Inaki also plays, Williams made his club debut in April 2021 at the age of 18. In 167 games, he has scored 31 goals for the team, which helped them place fourth in La Liga the previous season and earn a spot in the 2025–2026 Champions League. Williams, who was voted player of the match when La Roja overcame England to win the Euro 2024 final, has also established himself as a regular for Spain.
