John Terry has been in talks with the Chelsea board during the past few weeks over his contract extension with the Blues, the owner Roman Abramovich is still deciding if he wants JT to stay as a player or as something else. The player had already revealed that they offered him a seat on the board, but his desire is to keep playing football for a couple more years. This might prove a bit difficult, but for manager Claudio Ranieri, both sides should reach an agreement that satisfies John Terry.
After Leicester City's match against Chelsea, Ranieri was quizzed about the situation with the Blues' skipper, to which he responded: "I don't want to take sides. John Terry, you know, he was like my son. I believed in him when he was young. I put him in the team when there were a couple of world champions and European champions and I picked him. For me, it was better to put him in the squad. He's gone on to have a fantastic career, and I hope he can continue."
His teammate Deco also spoke to Omnisport about Terry, he firmly believes that he should stay and retire there: "Terry is a fantastic captain. He's a legend of the club, he's a reference for the players and of course he deserves one year more. I think he can still play at a high level. But like I said he's a legend, he's important for the club and for the young players too, and of course I think he's good to stay one more year."
