OFFICIAL: Madrid confirm Militao's anterior cruciate ligament injury

The worst-case scenario was confirmed on Saturday afternoon at the Santiago Bernabeu. Eder Militao says goodbye to another season after breaking the cruciate muscle in his right leg, the opposite of last year.

"Following tests carried out today on Eder Militao by Real Madrid's medical department, the player has been diagnosed with a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament with damage to both meniscuses in his right leg. Militao will undergo surgery in the coming days."

This is the second cruciate rupture Militao has suffered in his career, both in consecutive years. At the start of last season, the defender broke the cruciate in his left leg, the opposite leg to his current one.

Militao was injured half an hour into the match against Osasuna. From a cross from the left, the defender tried to shoot in front of Boyomo, but his knee got stuck, causing the long-term injury.
