Pafos eliminate Red Star Belgrade and will play in the Champions League

The Cyprus team eliminated Red Star Belgrade, historic champion of Europe in 1991, behind them to prevail 3-2 on aggregate and ensure their presence in the League Phase of the UCL 2025/26.

Pafos' qualification represents a success for Cypriot football, which sees how one of its youngest teams managed to open up a path between the continent's powers. The solo triumph means progressing to the group stage of the maximum European competition, but also a coup of authority on the international stage.

Red Star, with their vast experience and titles in his honors, started as favorite. However, Pafos surprised with their discipline, intensity and ability to compete in the key moments of the qualifier. With this result, Cyprus becomes a new representative in the elite of European football and Pafos becomes the first club on the island that manages to advance to the League Phase.
