The Peruvian National Team managed to scratch a victory against debutant side Haiti, the Century Link Field in Seattle was the venue for this match. From the very start, the Haitian defense was clearly the unexperienced one for they are not traditionally a footballing country. The Peruvian side started attacking from the very start of the match, they attempted to attack from all sides, the spaces were all over. When ever Peru attempted to play the long pass, they struggled every time but when they started from the very back on a touch based game they seemed more dangerous.
The first minutes' strong start from Peru came short as the time wen't by, there was a time when things got more inclined to the Haitians but the scoreline stayed with no major events. Just a minute before half time, Edison Flores sent a strike straight to the post during Peru's most important chance of the whole first half, soon after the post, the defense cleared the ball from the box. The first half came to an end without any big opportunities other than that ball to the post by Flores, we all expected something great.
But during the second half, came more of the same from both sides. Historic goal scorer Paolo Guerrero finally gave the positive note on the scoreline, as he connected a precise header after a cross from the left. He managed to be the top goal scorer of the last two editions of the Copa America, today he continued his streak with this goal on the 60th minute. This goal by Peru pushed the Haitians to go look for the result, this opened up more spaces for them. There were even times when the Haiti National Team came closer to the goal than Peru, but they weren't more than just mild scares. At the end, Peru managed to get the victory and reach the Group B's top spot before Brazil faced Ecuador.
