These two make a great duo, Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato and Mexican midfielder Jonathan dos Santos were the main accountable for Villarreal's Europa League victory in their first international match of the season. Sadiku got the early goal for FC Zurich ion the second minute of the match, this was enough to alarm Villarreal into looking for solutions which were planted in Alexandre Pato and Jonathan dos Santos' feet.
Their combinations were the key to get the Spanish club's turnaround, they first combined in the 28th minute with a precise Dos Santos assist for Pato's goal. His crossed shot plunged into the top corner and gave Villarreal enough confidence to take on the remaining minutes of the match. Pato hadn't worked until today, this was possibly due to Jonathan dos Santos' absence.
Right before half time, the second combination between these two came. This time, it was Pato who gave Dos Santos the assist. The Mexican midfielder scored a potent shot to the bottom corner which gave Villarreal the final 2-1 victory. It looks like these two might do some damage in La Liga and Europe this season, as long as injuries respect them and they keep this chemistry going.
