Ramos saves Real Madrid once again in the last minute

Zinedine Zidane attempted to start his second season as Real Madrid's manager, without key players such as Gareth Bale, Keylor Navas, Cristiano Ronaldo and Toni Kroos. The French manager also decided to leave key players who were available on the bench such as Luka Modric, James Rodriguez and  Karim Benzema. He chose to trust new young talents like Marco Asensio who has been the pre-season sensation, the 20-year old didn't disappoint.

On the 21st minute of the match, he surprised everyone with a long-distance screamer that put Los Blancos ahead. However, Jorge Sampaoli's Sevilla proved that they are still a strong side despite Unai Emery leaving the club. They pulled one back through new addition Franco Vazquez who scored a beautiful left foot effort during the 41st minute of the match. Both sides got the half-time break and the match was still open for anyone.

Twenty minutes from the final whistle, Sevilla looked like they were going to win the game after Sergio Ramos committed a penalty which Konoplyanka managed to score from the spot. But the skipper wanted to mend his awful mistake, on the very last minute he delivered another Sergio Ramos special header that sent the game into extra time. The final whistle came with a 2-2 score line and the game was still open for anyone.

With Modric, James and Benzema already on the field for Los Blancos, the extra time began with bad news for Sevilla. French defender Kolodziejczak got a second yellow card after a nasty foul on Lucas Vazquez, this left Sampaoli's side with ten players. This was the perfect time for Los Blancos to get the winning goal, they had a little under half an hour to get it with many fresh players still on the field. Ramos scored the winner but the referee annulled the goal during the first extra time due to a foul committed by the defender, the second half started with the stalemate.

The big moment came during the last minutes of the second extra time, right-back Daniel Carvajal scored a Maradonian golazo in an incredible solo effort on the right flank. Another victory for Zidane who starts the season with the right foot and without many of his key players. Their absence gives this victory a double value because it proves that the roster has depth and is highly competitive, Real Madrid are the European Super Champions. Sevilla played a good game during the first 90 minutes, but they seemed to get too exhausted during the extra time.
