Rayo Vallecano earns victory over Espanyol, with an own goal

The first 45 minutes ended with a score of 0-0 because neither team had a clean attempt on goal in the first half. Rayo Vallecano opened the second half efficiently, taking advantage of the circumstances to open the scoring thanks to an own goal by Leandro Cabrera in the 54th minute, ending in a 1-0 victory.  Andoni Iraola's Rayo Vallecano ended the match in sixth place in the overall standings, ensuring a place in the UEFA Conference League, while Vicente Moreno's team finished ninth with 20 points.

The referee issued a total of seven cards, including a red card to Fran Mérida by the visiting team. Rayo will face Villarreal at La Ceramica before playing Bergantinos in the Copa del Rey second round.
