Real Madrid lost their first La Liga game of the season

In a back-and-forth match, Rayo took an early lead but Real came back to win 2-1. Before the half, Rayo tied the score, and in the 67th minute, Oscar Trejo converted two penalties to give his team a historic victory. After 13 games, Barcelona leads Real Madrid with 34 points to their 32. In a sold-out stadium in the working-class suburb of Vallecas, Real Madrid faced a difficult opponent while playing without injured Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema.

After just five minutes, Santiago Comesana gave the home team the lead amid boisterous celebrations. However, Madrid took control of the game with two goals in as many minutes. Eder Militao gave Carlo Ancelotti's previously unbeaten team the lead after Luca Modric had first levelled the score from the penalty spot in the 37th minute.
