However, the win left a frustrating mark for Mikel Arteta's team due to an injury to defender Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian started alongside Saliba in central defense but was forced to leave the pitch early in the second half.
On the 49th minute, Calafiori dropped to the turf and called for a substitution from the bench. The 23-year-old limped off toward the locker room after exiting the game.
Arsenal have not yet released details on the nature of Calafiori's issue. Manager Mikel Arteta addressed the matter with caution: "Calafiori said he felt a bit of discomfort, so I'm not sure how serious it is. We're hoping it's nothing major," Arteta told the club's official website.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko made an appearance for the Gunners, coming on as a substitute for Miles Lewis-Skelly in the 77th minute.
