Rudi Völler is the new sporting director of the German national team

After the surprising elimination of Germany in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, repeating the disappointment of 2018 in Russia, the DFB gathered a group of five former internationals, including Rudi Völler, to support the recovery of 'Mannschaft' , and the former player was elected to replace Oliver Bierhoff in office.

Rudi Völler spent four years in charge of the German national team, from 2000 to 2004, playing in the final of the World Cup in South Korea and Japan, in 2002, lost to Brazil, and the early elimination of the group stage of Euro2004, in Portugal .

In his playing career, Völler was world champion in 1990 with Germany and retired from international football in 1994, after the World Cup in the Usa.

Völler set himself the main goal of "laying the foundations for a successful Euro2024 at home and supported by all of Germany".
