Salernitana got their first away victory in almost a full year

Loum Tchaouna gave Salernitana their first away win in over a full year, giving them hope for safety, but Verona wasted a clear opportunity in stoppage time. This was a huge match since, despite a 2-2 tie with Milan, Hellas was just one point above the drop zone, and Pippo Inzaghi was already under extreme pressure. For the hosts, Boulaye Dia and Guillermo Ochoa remained out of the game, while Ondrej Duda was suspended and Jayden Braaf was hurt.

Salernitana had the worst start imaginable when, five minutes in, Pol Lirola was carted off with an injury and was replaced by Norbert Gyomber. Both a fierce long-range effort by Pasquale Mazzocchi and a looping header by Loum Tchaouna from an Antonio Candreva cross went wide. After riding a tackle, Cyril Ngonge seemed to lose his balance, therefore he felt unfairly penalised for simulation in the penalty area.
