Sporting Strike Late to Beat Ten-Man Marseille

In the 86th minute, Alisson Santos rewarded the Portuguese team's persistent pressure in the second half by cutting inside and curling in with his right foot. Igor Paixao had scored a fantastic goal from the edge of the penalty box in the first half, but Geny Catamo's curling attempt into the bottom corner in the 69th minute had balanced it out.

The equaliser came after Roberto de Zerbi's team had to play the second half with ten men after Emerson of Marseille was given a second yellow card for diving in an effort to win a penalty in first-half stoppage time. Paixao scored his third goal of the season after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang set him up, putting the Ligue 1 team on track for a second European success this year. But Sporting's resilience eventually paid off and victory moved them up to 12th in the table with two wins and a loss.
