After Leicester City's grand victory at Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur desperately needed the three points against Manchester United at White Hart Lane this Sunday. The match got delayed because the Red Devils arrived a few minutes late to the stadium, but after that was settled the game got underway. The first half was quite disputed as Manchester United played very decent football, the Spurs weren't expecting such a well organized team and they nearly received a few goals but the goalkeeper and the defense were on point.
But there was something lacking to this match, that was Tottenham's hunger for victory because if they tied the match they would be practically saying goodbye to the season. Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino knew this as he gave his players a winning speech that turned them into predators looking to devour their foe. If it wasn't for Spaniard David de Gea, things could've gone way worse for Louis Van Gaal's boys. Before Tottenham's first goal he saved at least 6 clear chances for the Spurs in the second half, but one can hold a fort for so long during a shootout.
The avalanche came on the 70th minute as Dele Alli drew first blood after Kane spread the ball to Eriksen whose perfectly weighted pass was buried by Alli from close range. Three minutes later it was Lamela's out swinging free-kick that was headed by Toby Alderweireld brilliantly into the bottom right corner. Another three minutes later Rose's low cross from the left was swept superbly by Erik Lamela himself into the bottom left corner. It was six minutes of sheer brilliance and flash like speed from the Spurs.
United wasn't even able to blink during this time and they barely had time to react to the massacre, this result keeps them 7 points behind Leicester City and the Premier League title run very much alive. Sadly Harry Kane wasn't able to score and Jamie Vardy moved closer to him on the top scoring table.
