Ekwah signed a contract to play for Sunderland until the summer of 2027 after leaving the academy of West Ham United in January 2023 for an unknown price. The midfield player joined Nantes in 2017 after first playing for RC Arpajonnais, Bretigny FCS, and CFF Paris at the juvenile levels. He then completed a move to Chelsea, where he spent three years before leaving Stamford Bridge in favor of a move to West Ham.
Ekwah made his debut on Wearside last season and has since made 60 appearances, establishing himself as a first team regular. The midfield player started the season as a substitute against Fulham in the FA Cup's fourth round in 2023. He then played a significant role in the latter stages of the campaign, putting on a brilliant performance in Sunderland's 2-1 victory against Luton Town in the first leg of their Championship play-off semifinal.
