The France captain, Mbappé declared to be happy for his former club

However, in his first season away from the Parc des Princes, it was PSG who won the trophy for the first time in their history.

Mbappé left Les Parisiens on a free transfer and in somewhat acrimonious circumstances, amid a pay dispute that has dragged on for many months. On a collective level, he has endured a difficult first season with Los Blancos, which ended without any major trophy being secured.

Real Madrid didn’t get close to winning the Champions League, crashing out against Arsenal at the quarter-final stage. However, Mbappé, speaking to M6, didn’t display any bitterness at having missed out on the historic achievement.

“I was happy because I have friends in the team,” began the France captain. “It is a club that has meant a lot to me. It is the club where I stayed for the longest period in my career, for now,” he added.
