Following an outstanding month in which Youri Tielemans made five appearances for Unai Emery's team across all competitions, the Belgian midfielder received nearly one-third of the vote from Villa fans.
On a spectacular night at Villa Park, Tielemans began October with a remarkable 90-minute performance as the Lions defeated Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Four days later, a player-of-the-match performance against Fulham in the first game back after the international break was followed by another 90-minute performance in a goalless draw at home against Manchester United. The 27-year-old contributed an assist shortly before the hour, swinging a corner into the head of Ollie Watkins, who then guided the ball past Bernd Leno, to earn another ninety minutes at Craven Cottage in a 3-1 victory. He was splendid later against Bologna’s 2-0 win in the Champions League and against Bournemouth in the Premier League matchup.
