True Democracy eye historic upset against Asante Kotoko in FA Cup Quarterfinals

True Democracy has been impressive in the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup, making their first appearance in the quarterfinals. The Tema-based side, who qualified for the Access Bank Division One League this season, have dazzled in the Cup competition, dispatching former champions FC Nania and Dreams FC.

In the Access Bank Division One League, True Democracy trail leaders Hohoe United by 18 points in Zone Three. However, their impeccable form in the MTN FA Cup has been nothing short of impressive. They began their campaign with a 2-0 win over Kwahu Rangers in the preliminary round, followed by victories over Koforidua Sempe FI, 2023 champions Dreams FC, and 2010/11 champions FC Nania.

The team's blend of experienced players, including Daniel Egyin, Kenneth Owusu, and Martey Mahama, and youngsters Abraham Odonkor, Adjei Martei, George Anderson, and Amin Abdul Basit, has yielded impressive results, catapulting them to the quarterfinals.

True Democracy faces Premier League leaders Asante Kotoko in the fourth quarterfinal game on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Asante Kotoko, who needed a solitary strike from Kyei Baffuor to beat Sekondi Eleven Wise in the Round of 16, seems to be scoring with ease in recent games, with returnee Kwame Poku leading the attack.

The Porcupine Warriors have a strong squad, with Justice Blay, Samuel Tenedu, Lord Amoah, Saaka Dauda, Emmanuel Antwi, and Captain Frederick Asare all available for selection.

This pulsating game is scheduled for a 7:00 pm kickoff at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
