Vermaelen finally out of recovery at Barcelona

FC Barcelona has been having many problems with defensive players who fall injured, the specific case of Thomas Vermaelen is really something special because since he arrived he has never been able to live up to the hype created around his figure. He came from Arsenal with the reputation of being a world class defender and he simply hasn't proved this to anyone in Barcelona. The Belgian player has only made 20 appearances this season with the club, his calf problems during a practice put him back in the hospital just days after returning from another injury.

But now that time has passed by and he has been able to get apparently fully recovered, the club has issued a statement where they confirm that he is available for Luis Enrique to use in the last match of La Liga at Granada. However, if he does play that last game, it will be most likely to impress a club that is looking for a new defender because he won't be staying in the club for next season. He wants to get fit to play the Euros and then move back to England where he has a better reputation.

The club's statement reads as follows: "Thomas Vermaelen has been given the medical all clear to return to action," a statement on the club's official website reads. The Belgian has now recovered from the calf injury that has kept him out since 11 April."
