Veteran scorer Edin Dzeko helped Inter overcome AC Milan 2-0 at San Siro

Inter totally destroyed Stefano Pioli's team in the first half of a historic Champions League semifinal, and they were unable to recover from that terrible start. Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored early goals to put Inter in command before a penalty for a foul on Lautaro Martinez nearly ended the game before halftime. Fortunately for Milan, the judgment on the penalty kick was overturned, but the Rossoneri never looked strong defensively and lost Ismael Bennacer to injury. They also were unable to continuously threaten Inter's goal throughout the course of the evening and lacked any conviction with Rafael Leao out.

If AC Milan wants to force a change in the second leg, Rafael Leao's probable comeback won't be sufficient to propel them to victory on its own. The Rossoneri must significantly improve as a team as a whole.
