VfB started with a defeat to the second half of the season on Saturday.

VfB started with a defeat i.e.2-1 to the second half of the season on Saturday at SC Freiburg.

Pellegrino Matarazzo,VfB head coach made four changes to the squad. This began the away game at Arminia Bielefeld. Philipp Förster and Borna Sosa were unavailable. It is due to muscular issues, Mateo Klimowicz and Sasa Kalajdzic had to settle for a place on the bench. Nicolas Gonzalez, Silas Wamangituka, Daniel Didavi and Gonzalo Castro all came into the side.

Wamangituka took the ball forward past his opponents with a slight touch of the feet by continuously bouncing into the Freiburg penalty area. That too before setting up Didavi. As their shot was saved by Florian Müller. Nonetheless, the Freiburg goalkeeper fails to hold onto the ball. It allowed Wamangituka to open the scoring from the rebound. Later Ermedin Demirovic and Jeong scored one goal each for Freiburg
