Walid Regragui: 'Hakimi will be with us at AFCON, on the field or off it'

Despite the seriousness of the injury, the manager expressed firm confidence in Hakimi's participation in the tournament.

"Achraf Hakimi will be with us at the CAN, regardless of whether he plays or not. If there is a player who can return quickly, it is Hakimi. I am confident of that. We will only let him out on the pitch when he is fully fit, 100%,” Regragui said.

Hakimi suffered a severe sprain in his left ankle on November 4 during PSG’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich (after a bad foul by Luis Diaz, whom was shown a red card).

According to medical reports, the defender’s full recovery is expected to take between 6 and 8 weeks.

The 2026 Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco will host this year, will start on December 21.
