Wolves are set to reward Jacob Strand Larsen with a new contract
Wolves are set to reward Jacob Strand Larsen with a new contract after fending off heavy interest from Newcastle. The Magpies made two bids worth £50m and £55m for the 22-year-old striker, but both were rejected, forcing them to explore alternatives in Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa. Strand Larsen, who joined Wolves permanently for £23m from Celta Vigo this summer after a loan spell, had told the club he wanted the move to St James’ Park. However, Wolves stood firm, particularly after already losing Matheus Cunha to Manchester United for £62.5m and Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City in a £31m deal with add-ons. Those exits strengthened Wolves’ finances, allowing them to prepare improved terms for the Norwegian. Strand Larsen, who scored 14 goals last season and has two this term, is expected to stay focused despite his transfer disappointment.
