Zidane Iqbal becomes first British South Asian to play for Manchester United

Iqbal came on in the 89th minute of United's Champions League game against Young Boys, which they drew 1-1. The 18-year-old, wearing the No 73 shirt, replaced England international Jesse Lingard.

He was one of a number of young players given an opportunity during the game. Amad Diallo, Anthony Elanga, Teden Mengi, Shola Shoretire and Charlie Savage also received minutes in what was a dead rubber, with United having already qualified from Group F in top spot.

Manchester-born Iqbal, who has Pakistani and Iraqi heritage, became the first British South Asian to sign a professional contract with United in April. He is now the first member of the community to play first-team football for the club.

Iqbal has been with United for more than decade. He plays as an attacking midfielder and has cemented his place with the Under-23s.
