AC Milan fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Udinese

On Saturday night in Serie A, Udinese defeated AC Milan 3-1 at the Dacia Arena, ending their chances of competing in the Champions League. For the first time in more than a year, Zlatan Ibrahimovic started for the away team, and he caused controversy in the first half. After shoddy Milan defence, Roberto Pereyra scored early on, but Jaka Bijol was brutally punished for a handball minutes before the half's end, resulting in a penalty.

The goal was ordered to be retaken after Ibrahimovic's initial miss, and Udinese manager Andrea Sottil was dismissed for his complaints before the veteran Swede levelled the score with his second effort. It appeared to tie the score at halftime, but Beto poked the ball home to give Udinese the lead back. Going into the game, Milan is two points behind second-placed Inter Milan and one point behind third-placed Lazio.
