Last summer, Koné was at the centre of multiple transfer sagas. With a number of top European clubs showing interest in the French midfielder, Liverpool had emerged as favourites to secure his signature.
Nevertheless, despite an impressive 2022–23 campaign, Koné remained in Gladbach as a move away failed to materialise. Interest in his services over the past twelve months has remained, with Bayern Munich adding Koné to their shortlist, but injuries and poor form have seen his name ushered out of the headlines.
However, this could be about to change, with AC Milan plotting a potential move for the 23-year-old. Koné is currently on international duty with France’s U23 side at the Olympics, but once he returns, his future is uncertain. Gladbach are not averse to selling Koné this summer, but it depends on whether Milan make their interest concrete.
