It was a truly historic day for Albania, they clashed against Romania this Sunday at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon. On the 35th minute Albania made the first impact of the game as Romania goalkeeper Tatarusanu made a good save at his near post, he managed to prevent Memushaj's effort to become into this game's first goal. But Albania was getting dangerously close to scoring their first ever goal in a major tournament.
It was mostly a very leveled match throughout the whole 90 minutes, but Albania managed to get the edge just two minutes before half time. Memushaj drilled the ball to the back post and Sadiku headed it back across goal and beyond Tatarusanu, this goal was the first major one in an official tournament for Albania and their first ever victory as well. The celebration coming from Sadiku was all over the top, his teammates even carried him on their shoulders out of excitement.
During the second half, the Albanian side was able to hold their own against Romania, they defended with the knife wrapped with their teeth in every single challenge and dispute of the ball. At the end, Romania wasn't able to find the equalizer and gave Albania the chance of having an opportunity to wait and see results from other groups in order to keep dreaming of being one of the best third places of the competition.
