Antonio Cordero, a young Spanish star, reportedly passed up FC Barcelona's offer to join them in favor of Newcastle United. The Catalan team had already expressed interest in the 18-year-old attacker for Málaga CF, who made an impression this season with six goals and six assists in Spain's Segunda Division. According to reports, Barcelona made an offer last summer, but Cordero rejected it because he wouldn't accept a berth on the B squad.
He has now chosen to transfer to the Premier League, apparently signing with Newcastle until 2030, despite Catalonia's ongoing interest. It was also reported that Real Madrid was interested in him. According to some reports, he may be loaned to Ajax and formally welcomed next month. Before establishing himself with Málaga's B squad, he moved about between Sevilla, Real Betis, Málaga, and San Félix. Since then, he has advanced through the ranks and is regarded as one of Spain's most promising young players in his field.
