Joan Garcia has already received an offer from Arsenal in an attempt to entice the goalie away from Espanyol, according to Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness. Club-level negotiations have not yet started since there have been rumours that the Spanish team may accept a price of at least €15 million, which is far less than his release clause.
When Arsenal traded Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton last summer, they made a last-ditch effort to capture Joan Garcia. Espanyol refused to back down from their demand that the €25 million release clause be paid; but, if they are demoted from La Liga this season, that amount might drop to €15 million. Real Madrid and Barcelona have been credited with an interest in Joan Garcia, with the Catalan giants only likely to pursue the Espanyol star if Wojciech Szczesny leaves in the summer. As for Real Madrid, they could pursue him if Andriy Lunin ends up leaving in the close season.
