Atalanta leads the Serie A division after a win against Parma

The unexpected powerhouse of Italian football, Atalanta, defeated Parma 3-1 on Saturday to take the lead in Serie A. Mateo Retegui, an Italian attacker, gave Atalanta the lead against Parma early on in the Ennio Tardini Stadium. Retegui is the leading scorer in Serie A with 12 goals this season.

Ederson, a Brazilian midfielder, increased Atalanta's lead just before halftime. Early in the second half, Matteo Cancellieri of Parma cut the deficit to one, but Ademola Lookman, a Nigerian forward for Atalanta, gave the visitors the win in the 75th minute. With 28 points from 13 games, Gian Piero Gasperini's Atalanta won their seventh back-to-back game in the Italian league. Defending champions Inter is ranked second in Serie A with 28 points. With 26 points, Napoli is currently in third place and will play Roma on Sunday.
