With the likelihood of a January move growing, Atalanta's long-standing interest in Domenico Berardi seems to be picking up steam once more. In previous years, Berardi's and manager Gian Piero Gasperini's paths have nearly crossed, and 2025 may be the year that their paths finally meet. According to Calciomercato, the Bergamo club's pursuit of Berardi began in the summer of 2022 when they offered Sassuolo €25 million. In the hopes that larger teams like Juventus, Inter, or Milan would show interest, Berardi decided to extend his contract with Sassuolo at the time.
Berardi is open to a move now that he has recovered from a serious Achilles tendon injury that kept him out for a large portion of the previous season and helped Sassuolo get demoted to Serie B. The 30-year-old attacker is keen to return to the top division and make his Champions League debut after recording an outstanding 122 goals and 83 assists in 314 Serie A games.
