Atletico Madrid beats the runaway leaders by 1-0

Atletico Madrid took on Real Madrid and end Los Blancos’ superiority in the fixtures between the two sides. The last time they lost during the match-up was back in 2015/16 season in the Santiago Bernabeu. The Colchoneros finally thumped their biggest rivals with Yannick Carrasco’s penalty which turned out to be the winning goal in the end. In their dominant show at Wanda Metropolitano, Atletico stayed in control to add three points to their tally and move closer to the Champions League spot.

Atleti’s season has been a rollercoaster ride one moment they are climbing on the table steadily next they are dropping points and losing matches, dropping down the table including the 4-2 away loss at the hands of Barcelona. The defending Spanish champions can still make a comeback in UCL and if the Los Blancos’ win is any indication of their power they would do so with flying colors.
