Andres Iniesta, who will be forever idolised in Spain for scoring their World Cup winning goal in the 2010 final against the Netherlands, published a message to his social media in support of the players of Spain's Women's team, following the outcry against suspended football federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales, after he forced a kiss on one of the players.
"After what has happened this week, I would like to convey my sadness, as a person, as a father of three daughters, as a husband and as a footballer, at the events that we are experiencing in our football and around the Spanish Women's National Team", wrote Iniesta.
"I don't think we can tolerate actions like the ones we have seen, which have tarnished such a great milestone as winning a World Cup," added the Spaniard.
