Barcelona have had their fair share of injury problems this season

Alejandro Balde had to leave that game early because of a hamstring injury that appeared to be serious at the time. Balde's first diagnosis suggested he may be sidelined for four to six weeks, but as things turn out, the young defender might be out for much longer. According to Marca, surgery could be necessary to fix the issue, which would keep Balde out of commission for almost four months.

Barcelona may also choose to give Balde a cautious course of therapy. With the nature of the club's injury difficulties, this could be the wisest course of action, and there is now enough backup (Joao Cancelo and Hector Fort) for the next four to six weeks of the season. He would then return. Despite his recent poor showing, Balde is still a key member of the team for head coach Xavi Hernandez.
