Barcelona reportedly turned down the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Beraldo during the summer transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo. Following Iñigo Martínez’s unexpected move to Saudi Arabia, the Catalan club were searching for affordable defensive reinforcements.
During this search, Beraldo’s name was offered to them. The 21-year-old Brazilian had struggled for consistent minutes under Luis Enrique at PSG and was made available for transfer. Despite the opportunity, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick were unconvinced. Mundo Deportivo reports that Beraldo “didn’t excite either Deco or Flick,” leading the club to reject the proposal and look elsewhere. Ultimately, the Blaugrana opted not to pursue the young defender, focusing instead on other options to strengthen their backline ahead of the new La Liga season.
