Benjamin Asare is Black Stars Number One “At The Moment”- Otto Addo

Head coach of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team-the Black Stars- Otto Addo, has stated that Benjamin Asare is the starting goalkeeper for the Black Stars “at the moment”.

He made this statement in his post-game presser after Ghana beat Madagascar 3-0 in Morocco with the home game technically for Madagascar taking place in the North African nation due to Madagascar’s unapproved venue by CAF.

Accra Hearts of Oak’s Asare was called up to the Black Stars for the first time in the latest international window and was surprisingly picked as the starter in Ghana’s 5-0 win over Chad before reprising his starter’s role against Madagascar and he looks to have at least temporarily locked down the starter’s spot.

“The next game is in June. At the moment, he is the number one. He did well in training. We have a good situation where the goalkeepers are pushing each other. [I’m] really thankful [for] the way [Lawrence] Ati Zigi and [Joseph] Wollacott also behaved during this week” Otto Addo said before adding that

“The way they also tried to push Benjamin to help him, to support him… big props to them for pushing him. This is good team work and Benjamin, he really deserved it.”

Asare is expected to man the goal for Hearts of Oak in their upcoming tie against Medeama on Sunday, April 6 at the University of Ghana Stadium in the Ghana Premier League.
